It's almost time for Chicago's own C2E2! With well less than a day left until the con floor opens, we wanted to share with you some of what we think are some of the most exciting things happening this weekend!
Professional Geek Podcast
This is why we’re all here! Professional Geek podcast is returning to C2E2 with a panel of guests from all over the geek realm. We have musicians, producers, podcasters, and more discussing both their journey into becoming a professional geek, and giving advice on how you, too, could become a professional geek! Professional Geek: How to Turn Your Passion into A Career can be seen on Friday at 5:15pm.
AJ Mendez Brooks and CM Punk
AJ Mendez Brooks, former divas champion in WWE (AKA AJ Lee) and her husband, former WWE champion CM Punk, are both visiting C2E2! This married couple changed the face of WWE collectively over the past 10 years. Both have retired from professional wrestling, and have both gone on to be authors, AJ with her memoir “Crazy Is My Superpower,” and Punk with Marvel Comics Thor and Drax. Catch AJ’s panel AJ Mendez Brooks: Crazy is My Superpower on Friday at 3:15, and Punk’s interview on Saturday at 2:30pm.
The Stranger Things kids
Set to take C2E2 by storm, just like they did in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, and Finn Wolfhard will all be appearing! Check out Millie Bobby Brown’s spotlight on Sunday at 12:15pm, and watch Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo play retro video games in Gaming with the Stranger Things' Kids on Sunday at 2:30pm.
Inventors of the listicle Cracked.com are sharing the live format of their podcast with the C2E2 crowd! On Saturday at 11:15pm in Cracked: Bad Movies that Deserve a Great Remake, Cracked writers Michael Swaim and Soren Bowie play fantasy movie producer in this panel that gives Hollywood better bad movies to reboot than every superhero origin story ever.
Behind The Parable And The Power: A Celebration Of The Black Women Creators Of The ‘Verse

You Have Died From Exposure: The Importance Of Compensating Geeky Marginalized Creators
The viral hit makes its debut at C2E2 this year! An all star panel of voice actors will be doing a live read of Back To The Future, bringing their own unique vocal flare to each part! Check out Twisted Toonz on Saturday at 2:45!
One of the most exciting directions that professional wrestling has taken in the last few years is also one of the most exciting wrestling contingents at C2E2 this year! Lucha Underground stars will discuss their success, the show, the Lucha tradition, and share unaired clips in this high flying panel! Don’t miss Welcome to Lucha Underground: El Rey Network's High-Flying Wrestling Series on Sunday at 4pm!
Socially conscious panels
We’ve discussed on this blog before what I think that geek culture can bring to the table in terms of inclusion. C2E2 is famous for its focus on inclusion, and there are so many inclusive, important, and socially conscious panels this year. If you want to join the discussion on how to improve our geek community, make sure not to pass up these panels.
Stuff To Blow Your Mind: Weird Science in the White City
The HowStuffWorks.com podcast Stuff To Blow Your Mind is bringing a very Chicago-centric panel to C2E2! For fans of history, science, architecture, and Chicago, this panel promises to have a little bit of everything, and hopefully live up to its name by blowing my mind. Stuff To Blow Your Mind: Weird Science in the White City can be seen on Saturday at 5:15
Defending Your Indefensible Taste
Cracked.com writers Cody Johnston, Daniel O’Brien, and Katie Willert will be getting very serious about some very dumb things. In this panel, the panelists will bring up pop culture touchstones that are nearly universally panned and try to convince us that they have merit! One thing is for sure, this panel won’t be as much as a trainwreck as the movies and shows that’ll be discussed in it.Defending Your Indefensible Tastecan be caught on Sunday at 12pm.
Veronica Taylor is on this list because, for me, she was the first voice actor that really got me up to speed on the idea that there were humans behind the faces of my favorite cartoon characters. You can catch Veronica Taylor, voice of Ash Ketchum from Pokemon, inher spotlight on Saturday at 4pm.
